Ring Launcher

Our tried-and-true electromagnetic ring launcher interactive is based on the design we have perfected over the past 20 years. When a guest pushes the button, an electric current energizes the coil for a fraction of a second. This current induces a secondary current into the aluminum ring. Similar to a pair of magnets repelling each other, the energized ring is repelled from the coil and is launched up the guide rod and then falls back into place. After each launch, the exhibit automatically enters a "rest" period for about 10 seconds indicated by the red LED. This prevents the ring from getting hot.
